In the last two years, so many changes have occurred in the New York real estate continuing education requirements. Most recently, on December 21st, Governor Kathy Hochul signed a series of new Fair Housing bills into law. Including additional required continuing education topics for the real estate salesperson and broker licensee.
As of July 1, 2021, all licensees must successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved continuing education. It must include at least 2.5 hours of ethical business practices or NAR Code of Ethics. At least 1 hour of recent legal matters and at least 3 hours pertaining to fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property. At least 1 hour pertaining to the law of agency except in the case of the initial two-year licensing term for real estate salespersons.
